goodbye twenty seven, hello twenty eight!
my birthday was tuesday and it just seems like the older i get the less "turnt" my birthdays are and believe me, i am not complaining! lol! my day was pretty good y'all! i wore one of my very own upcycled pieces and it was super cute! i make this jumpsuit from a dress i thrifted a while back, and i was so giving wakanda vibes! i had to work on my birthday, but that was cool. after work, i got a pedicure and my honey took me out to dinner and drinks. we were going to go see black panther, but we had serious itis after that meal! however, we are going to go see it this weekend! i think im going to celebrate my birthday all season lol. so more dinners, shows, and dranks to come!
okay, so last year i wrote a post, hello twenty seven, five things i've learned, and they are still so relevant to me this year. however, i just wanna add a few more things i've learned about myself and life in general! take a look and tell me what you think!
if you're curious to know what twenty seven year old me learned. click here

the greats of twenty eight, eight things i've learned
one. be present and put the phone down
like, i don’t have to post everything!
two. brunch is life
i mean idk what's the best part between great food, endless mimosas, or just being tipsy all day! lol (don't judge me)
three. my value does not have to be recognized by someone else in order for it to be valid
there are times when i feel my posts go unnoticed, however, at the end of the day, this is my art, my form of creativity and what makes me happy and if it helps someone else along the way, that's great! so, tell your story, make your movie, paint your portrait, sing your song, write your blog. your voice, and your art, matter. your work has the power to change someone’s life! i'm just saying... if a tree falls and no one is around to hear it, it does make a sound.
four. never settle if i don’t like my current situation, my job, my relationship, or whatever it may be, i change it.
we are never stuck and if it benefits our well-being and those we care about, we gotta do what we need to do to be healthy and maintain a sound mind. trust me, you will never regret not settling.
five. get ownership. this takes time and lot of hard work, but it's so worth it. debt isn't normal and it isn't cool. there’s so much freedom in owning your things! this is something billy and i are working on as a family and can proudly say that we are getting there!
we can never stop working towards our next goal because it’s never ending. ignore the naysayers and stay focused on your goals!
six. self care is not selfish
don't let people make you feel guilty for having "me" time. taking regular inventory of your physical, mental and emotional health is not selfish at all, it’s a necessity! i mean, you can’t take care of anyone else until you take care of yourself. the people in your life deserve the best possible version of you and so do you! i personally have an "erica day" once a month. try it out!
seven. you ain’t really scared, you just scared of what others might say.
need i say more?
eight. i'm cool and i'll always be cool
i just am. some mistake my self-preservation for weakness. little do they know, i value being at peace over being right. they just don’t realize that my wellness is way more important than my ego!
be cool guys!
so... that's all i got for now! hope you enjoyed it! also, details on what i wore are below!
